WHAT THE SEA GAVE. Acrylic
The tossing and turning of the sea giving a gift of beauty. I started out painting flowers. Then it needed to be an expression of the ocean washing up delicate flowers onto a coral reef. Something soft and forgiving meets something solid and unforgiving and the two create a beauty all their own. The outcome is fossilized flowers being given by the sea. There is something about the the idea of a delicate flower maintaining its beauty, even though it endures the roughness of the sea, that needed expression. The idea that the experience of the tossing and turning in the sea preserves its beauty. Maybe brings out more of its beauty.
18 x 24 x 1 inch on canvas. Acrylic, modeling paste and pouring medium.
